PRESENTING MUSINGS FROM THE COLLECTIVE

After a Long Stretch of Winter by Carrie Houlihan

After a Long Stretch of Winter
that light and warmth of Summer
will seep back into your bones.
Dried cut grass will crisp into hay.
Berries will creep and then burst.
The narrow stream will exhale
its murky scent over the thick air.
Joyrides will spill and spray
dust and pebbles behind your wheels.
You will commune with music
outdoors and disappear into the woods.
